(about my mom & I)

My name is Deana. I’m one of the owners of Alchemy fine living. I come from a long line of talented women who’ve studied sewing & upholstery since the turn of the 18th century. I’m the fourth generation to learn & practice these trades. I love to transform furniture from dull to fabulous; slipcovers & upholstery are a great way to do this, but not the only way. Paint is my favorite way to bring old furniture back to life. I’ve spent countless hours painting furniture & learning techniques to antique, distress, & otherwise faux finish.

My mom Connie is not just my business partner. She taught me just about everything I know. She has taken numerous courses on furniture repair and restoration, as well as, woodworking. She has over forty years of experience as a seamstress and almost as many years as an upholsterer. Her perfectionism and attention to detail ensures that every piece of furniture we work on is returned to our clients better than new and every item we sew is of exceptional quality.

Our boutique is the culmination of years of antiquing, a passion for creating beauty in the home, and a true love of sewing and upholstery. In this store we combine all of our favorite things to create a truly unique selection of gift and home furnishing items, which range from antique to new, and of course, a bit of hand crafted.

We also offer several useful services which include: upholstery, custom sewing of home decorative items, and furniture painting and repair. All of these services are provided by my mom, my sister, and myself (sometimes we enlist the help of Dad and Grandma too).
