This vintage wing back chair is one of our most recent upholstery projects. My dad even got in on a little piece of the action. He decided to take the chair home and started “demolition”. He removed the wood base and meticulously picked out staples one by one. He didn’t last long though. After about half of one wing was torn off he fizzled and the chair ended up back at our store where my mom and I got down to serious business.

We removed every last bit of old worn out fabric and purchased new foam to replace the rotten filler that we found inside. In addition to removing all of the fabric we also removed the old finish. The wood was stripped and re-stained in a gorgeous, dark walnut. We beat the frame with a chain and hit it with a screw driver to rough it up a bit and then it was ready for new upholstery..

We recovered this chair with a heavy upholstery cotton in a charcoal grey. The fabric has a great texture to it; nice and heavy. The cushion was overstuffed with a down feather insert to make this wing back super cozy. The finishing touch was a pretty gimp in the perfect color.

do you want a wing back chair re-upholstered? We can do that!! A typical wing back chair starts at $375.00 for our labor, materials are an additional cost. Stop by our store to look through our fabrics or you can bring your own. Send us an email and we would be glad to give you a quote.

So beautiful….a great professional finish, as if it just came out of the manufacturing store. Do you offer upholstering classes?
