A friend of mine gave me two super cute chairs. Oh how I love freebies!! I liked these chairs so much I decided to keep them for myself, rather than re-upholster them and sell them in the store. That’s the problem with my “job” half the time I want to keep the furniture for myself.

I tore them apart to find all kinds of junk inside. Yuck! The tearing apart is always the worst part. These old chairs were pretty worn out. The foam was bright orange and crumbled into pieces as I tore the fabric off. I added new foam and fiber fill.

The chairs are covered in an upholstery grade cotton twill. I found this awesome hounds tooth fabric and immediately envisioned throw pillows made out of it, which inspired me to spice things up a bit on the chair. I added an orange piping to complete the look.

Although these chairs are not for sale, my mom and I do have several upholstered chairs available for purchase in our store front. We are located in Santa Ana California. We also offer upholstery services, so if you have a piece that you want refinished stop by the store, email, or call for a quote.

Deana, I appreciate your work so very much. I had found a really neat wing back chair on the side of the road over the summer that someone had put out to get rid of. I really wanted to pick that baby up and throw it in the minivan, but after further investigation, it had stains under the cushion with a distinct odor. I thought, “I wonder if AFL would be able to make this look new again.” and “I really wish I knew enough to do it myself since AFL is on the other side of the country.” Needless to say, I left it there on the road side. I wish I could do what you do with these really cool, old things. Blessings.
