Paint, distress, crackle, stain…. furniture painting techniques
We pulled out all the stops on this one. In order to get a super aged and worn patina we used many different furniture painting techniques. The piece was painted and crackled in a few select areas. The edges were sanded with 100 grit sand paper to expose the raw wood underneath. Then we rubbed dark Minwax all over the piece, which stuck in the cracks to subtly draw attention to those areas and deepened the color of the wood that was exposed to add contrast to those areas. The final step was to add a protective clear finish.
