This dresser is one of my most recent projects. I achieved the finish using a glaze, which I had never used before, but I will be using a whole lot of now. I really like the finish that the glaze created and working with it was so easy. The great thing about glaze is that it’s clear, so it can be mixed with any color paint, which makes for endless possibilities!!

I got so caught up in all of the excitement that I forgot to take a before picture, so here is a during shot.

Here is what this dresser looks like now. I lack patience. I actually snapped this photo with only half of the hardware back on the dresser, hence the oddly cropped photo (it does show off how pretty the detail is though).

Love the dresser. I bought a quart of glaze last week for the exact reason you love it. Haven’t used it yet but I think it might be easier to use than my newly purchased quart of ASCP dark wax. Thanks for the encouragement to open my can!

  2. Love the dresser (even though only seen from the funny cropped angle). My SIL has had a can of glaze that she’s used for years (loving it of course). When I went to HD, I expected to find it brown like hers, but only found the clear. I’ve bought it and several different sample paint colors to try. My first ‘try’ will be later today or tomorrow. Hope it turns out as nice as your dresser…Coreen

  3. I’m a sucker for these type of dressers. I painted one myself for our bedroom a while back. I’ve never tried glaze or wax, though, as I’m more of a modern-type girl.

  4. That dresser is beautiful! I love the shape and the details.

    Hi again
Could you email me the formula for the to tinted glaze? How much glaze to black paint? What brand glaze did you use? I got an amazing piece last week and want to try this technique on it. I’ll send a link to the finished piece when I’m done. Thanks.

I used Valspar clear glaze and “Very Black” Valspar paint. I just eyed it as I poured it in, no exact formula.
