This is my third weekly blog party. So far I’ve seen some really great ideas and it has been, not only super fun, but very inspiring! This week the trash to treasure story I will be sharing involves rusted vintage patio furniture, paint, and burlap.

Here is what this patio set looked like when I found it at my local flea market. Super rusty.

Before…….

They didn’t have any seats when I found them, so I cut some plywood to size and wrapped each one in burlap.

Then I bought some new foam and made burlap covers for the cushions. Finally I added a few accent throw pillows also made from burlap. A couple of the pillows got fabric flowers, just adds a bit of whimsy!

I was going to leave them RUSTY, because sometimes I like that old tattered look, but I decided to paint them. I painted them with a paint brush, only one coat, then sanded them with 100 grit sand paper to give them a distressed look. To prepare metal for paint I use a wire brush and then rubbing alcohol to clean the surface.

If you want to join in on the fun please do! I want to see what projects you’ve been up to. In order to link up please include a link back to my blog within your post. If you want to grab my button you can do that too. I have placed a “From Trash to Treasure” button on my side bar.

    Hi Deana…
Thanks so much for visiting my blog and the invite!! I would love to participate in your party!! I love turning trash into treasure and have been doing it for years but I am the worst at taking before and after photos, lol!! I can kick myself every time I think about a piece of furniture that I’ve done for a customer and have let it go without any pictures!!! Oh well… live and learn.
I LOVE your garden furniture transformation!! Those flowers are too sweet!! I’ve enjoyed peeking around your blog and watching your videos :) ) Very informative and helpful. I especially like when it would speed up and it looked like you were working super fast!! I wish I could move like that in real life… It would make things so much easier!!
See you next Thursday with another “Trash to Treasure”. This time I WILL take better pics :) )
