furniture painting & new upholstery
from trash…….
This antique bench was an absolute mess when we found it by the side of the road, but nothing a little bit of paint and fabric couldn’t fix. Well…. it took a bit more than just a paint job and some new upholstery. This bench required a lot of wood glue, wood fill, and a few nails to stabilize the wobbly frame. The seat required new foam and batting, and a whole lot of TLC.
My mom and I love transforming old, ugly, disgarded pieces of furniture into beautiful treasures. This was such a fun project for the two of us. These kinds of projects are right up our alley and just so happen to be a specialty offered here at our store, Alchemy fine living. If you have an old piece of furniture in desperate need of a makeover stop by the store for a consultation, shoot us an email, or give us a call. We’d be happy to help!!
to treasure!!!!!
If you’re into makeovers you’ll want to visit between naps on the porch and check out all the other fun projects going on out there in blog world.

This is a great transformation. I love finding someone’s castoff and turning it into my treasure. Great job!
That is quite a miraculous transformation! It’s gorgeous!

What an amazing transformation. I love it! you did a great job. Love the nailhead trim around the fabric.
This turned out just beautiful for today’s fashion. I saw one of these at a garage sale last summer for $40 in the condition you had from the trash. Great Save!
Just Lovely! Beautiful transformation!
I have that exact bench… bought at Goodwill, a long time ago, but not in near as bad of shape as your before. I painted mine black.
But I like it in white as well….
(stopping by from BNOTP )
I have always enjoyed rescuing a “crippled” piece and making it whole, too. This piece is really smashing — love the nailheads.
What a difference a little paint and tlc will do. I love it. You and your Mom make a great team!!! ~~Sherry~~
Nice upholstery job. Looks like it fits well in your store.
What a great looking settee! I love the finished project…sure wish that I could come across something like that on the side of the road.

What an amazing transformation. My creative talents don’t include anything with fabric, needle or thread…so I am always in awe of those of you who can do such things. How fun to have a business with your mom.
Have a wonderful day!
Sue

You made that bench look awesome! Hope it flies out the doors of your shop. Isn’t that a great feeling! I love it when that happens!
Beautiful job! I love doing things like this!
I am just blown away by all of your talents! The bench is so pretty -what a change. Thanks for sharing. I’m bookmarking your site -it’s awesome! JenT
the BENCH is FABULOUS!!
i just found your youtube videos and then your blog. SO much useful informations thank-you for sharing!
i just have one more question… what paint type do you like to use (semi gloss, satin???) i am going to refinish some dressers but wasn’t sure if i should go with satin or semi-gloss… THANKS!
Wow Deana, that’s so beautiful! Love your new header too!
What a lovely makeover! I inherited this exact bench from my grandpa. I’ve always wondered what to do with it, not that I need to do anything. I guess my grandpa took better care of it than the previous owners of your find. The two parts that you upholstered are cane seats on my bench.. other than that, identical! And yes, my frame is a bit wobbly as well
Deana & Connie are extrodinary! Is that a burlap seat I see?
Love, love, love the new looks of natural and burlap pillows you created
I came across your youtube video this past week since I am doing a craft project with my kinder class for our school auction. I would like to learn to paint and distress furniture and even upholstery too. Thanks for your videos! They are very helpful. If I lived in CA I would be there for your classes!
