from trash…….

bench

This antique bench was an absolute mess when we found it by the side of the road, but nothing a little bit of paint and fabric couldn’t fix. Well…. it took a bit more than just a paint job and some new upholstery. This bench required a lot of wood glue, wood fill, and a few nails to stabilize the wobbly frame. The seat required new foam and batting, and a whole lot of TLC.

My mom and I love transforming old, ugly, disgarded pieces of furniture into beautiful treasures. This was such a fun project for the two of us. These kinds of projects are right up our alley and just so happen to be a specialty offered here at our store, Alchemy fine living. If you have an old piece of furniture in desperate need of a makeover stop by the store for a consultation, shoot us an email, or give us a call. We’d be happy to help!!

This turned out just beautiful for today’s fashion. I saw one of these at a garage sale last summer for $40 in the condition you had from the trash. Great Save!

    Just Lovely! Beautiful transformation!
I have that exact bench… bought at Goodwill, a long time ago, but not in near as bad of shape as your before. I painted mine black.
But I like it in white as well….

I have always enjoyed rescuing a “crippled” piece and making it whole, too. This piece is really smashing — love the nailheads.

What an amazing transformation. My creative talents don’t include anything with fabric, needle or thread…so I am always in awe of those of you who can do such things. How fun to have a business with your mom.

What a lovely makeover! I inherited this exact bench from my grandpa. I’ve always wondered what to do with it, not that I need to do anything. I guess my grandpa took better care of it than the previous owners of your find. The two parts that you upholstered are cane seats on my bench.. other than that, identical! And yes, my frame is a bit wobbly as well :)

  18. Cyndy says:

Deana & Connie are extrodinary! Is that a burlap seat I see?

Love, love, love the new looks of natural and burlap pillows you created

I came across your youtube video this past week since I am doing a craft project with my kinder class for our school auction. I would like to learn to paint and distress furniture and even upholstery too. Thanks for your videos! They are very helpful. If I lived in CA I would be there for your classes! :)
