Recently a client sent me some pictures of this gorgeous living room, she was inquiring about our custom sewing work. I was immediately drawn to the colors and style of her home and excited about creating designs to complete this room. The color palette is full of different shades of green, gold, red and black. There is a really nice blend of various patterns and textures already in the room, so it was a great foundation to begin with, but something was missing… the window below is naked, but not for long!

I grabbed the black floral fabric, pictured above, and headed to the fabric store in search of fabrics to create a window seat and three coordinating pillows. I had a ton of fun scouring the fabric store in search of fabrics. It was also a blast drawing up pillow designs to share with my client who, by the way, was a pleasure to work with. I love to mix and match numerous different fabrics and lots of texture is a must. I found a few chenille fabrics, a canvas, a velvet, a silk blend and a few heavy cottons. Below are the choices my client had to select from…

Once the fabrics where selected the next decision was trim. The client and I both agreed that the trim needed some black in it, to really tie things together. I came across a few trims that were so perfect, each included all the main colors of the room.

Things really came together well. The green canvas was selected for the window seat cushion. The color was a perfect match to the wall color in an adjacent room. Next we really got creative and mixed and matched a multi color chenille, with a deep burgundy velvet and an embroidered silk. The pillows included ruching, tassels and fringe. The fabric and trim choices really made for some gorgeous pillows that have a very rich and luxurious appearance; a really nice addition to the room I must say!

That is a pretty room. The window seat looks so much better dressed. I’m not sure I understand the room though. Is it on a platform?

The window seat additions came together well. Very pretty.

I hope you’ll drop by AtticMag and give JaneT some advice for her headboard to bench project.

What gorgeous pillows! It’s amazing how the little things add such drama to a room. The window seat metamorphosis did the trick. It looks beautiful and so put together. Great job!
