A collection of Angels

Many of the women in my family are collectors. Collecting is a trait that has been passed down through many generations. My sister, Melinda, who I am introducing you to today, is no exception; she is definitely an avid collector. Each of us has different tastes and has chosen something entirely unique to accumulate and display within our homes.

My mom collects vintage hats. She, at one point, must have had over one hundred of them. Growing up my sister and I used to love playing dress up in the formal gowns my mom picked up at a thrift shop and a big vintage hat to top it off. My mom had them displayed in many rooms of our house in many unique and interesting ways.

My grandma is a button fanatic. She has been collecting buttons since she was six years old. She has buckets and buckets full of them. Her button collection is the one thing she is really stingy about; she doesn’t even like us looking at them. She covets each one like it is her most prize possession.

Me, I collect silver. I love old tarnished pieces that tell a story. Candle sticks, tea pots, creamers, salt shakers… you name it, if it is silver I want it! Not one piece in my collection is perfect and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Each piece has been well loved and used over its lifetime, which gives it such character.

My sister, Melinda, loves angles. She is just crazy about those beautiful winged creatures. Her house is full of angles, big and small, made of all different types of materials, and displayed in many different ways.

In a recent post titled Angelic Decor she wrote this:

For as long as I can remember I have been fascinated with angels. They are so beautiful, just looking at them makes me happy. Their faces are always so calm and pure and their wings fascinate me.
For the last five or so years I have been a devoted collector of these beauties. Come to my house and you will find them scattered in every room, if I thought I could fit more, I would.

My favorite Angels are made from plaster and distressed to look old. I like them sitting, kneeling, laying, standing or even hanging on the walls. They match any decor and make a wonderful addition to any home!

The presence of these angelic beauties in my home keeps me in high spirits.
