Real flowers are hard to keep alive, in my house that is. Fake flowers usually look fake. That is why I prefer to make arrangements using natural items such as twigs, berries, moss and feathers. Making an arrangement is enjoyable and easy; there is really no exact formula for doing so. Get creative and try to think outside the box; play, experiment and have fun.

In this arrangement I used a foam ball covered in feathers. I glued the feather ball, using hot glue to the inside of this ceramic wall sconce. I stuck a bit of moss around it and a few twigs inside of it. I finished it off with some gold colored orchids.

I love the gold colored orchids because although they are “fake” flowers they are clearly not intended to actually look real. They are modern and kind of funky.

Your local craft store is a great place to find all sorts of fun supplies for creating interesting arrangements. My favorite thing to do though is find items in nature and bring them home. Pine cones, sea fans, rocks, fallen tree branches, sea shells and sand are all great items to gather in your travels. These items not only make unique arrangements, but help preserve the memory of that fun hike or amazing vacation you took.
