Infused Vodka

One of my favorite ways to enjoy the summer sun is with a cocktail in hand! Summer calls for something light and refreshing in a chilled glass. Infusing vodka is a simple way to make a cool concoction that is perfect for sipping. Mixed in a pretty jar these drinks can make a great hostess gift for a backyard BBQ and they are perfect packed in a picnic basket.

My favorite recipe for infused vodka includes two ingredients besides alcohol; sugar and strawberries. I like to mix it in empty jars that originally held pink lemonade. I put one half cup of sugar and four big strawberries into the jar first, and then topped it off with vodka. I like to let it chill in the refrigerator for at least a week before serving. It can last up to a month, but be sure to remove the solids before they start to dissolve.

If you are going to be serving this beverage at your next soiree mason jars, decanters and other glass containers are a nice way to display and serve them. These gorgeous pieces from Pottery Barn would work nicely.
