Fabric selections.
I recently had a very sweet woman come into my store. She and I got talking about interior design and custom sewing and the next thing you know I am at her house doing a design consultation. She told me that she was kind of a gypsy at heart. She likes funky things, which seems fitting with her bubbly, outgoing personality. She basically gave me the freedom of using my creativity and boy did I have a good time at the fabric store.
She wants to do a complete overhaul on the bedroom. We are talking curtains for four large windows, a slipcover for an ottoman and overstuffed chair, bed skirt, duvet and tons of pillows. I started with a fabric that really caught my eye. It is dark chocolate brown and has a really fun and kind of wild floral design on it. There are beautiful greens, yellows and oranges in it as well.

From there I selected several other coordinating fabrics. I used my original find as the inspiration and drew the colors from that piece. I think it is really important when mixing fabrics to choose several different types of fabrics, textures and prints.
I chose a heavy weight chenille that has a chartreuse green background and a cream print on it, a rust colored silk, a dark chocolate brown and soft white fleur de lis pattern cotton, a golden yellow polyester fabric that has a gorgeous embroidered diamond pattern on it, a green stripe jacquard fabric and a solid green chenille. The combination includes several different textures and plays on the rich jewel tones in the inspiration fabric.

I want to cover the chair and ottoman in the solid green chenille. The bottom of the chair and ottoman will be trimmed in a 7” multi color tassel fringe.

I plan to make the curtains out of the rust color silk and finish the edges with a funky, beaded, orange tassel fringe.

I’m going to use the golden yellow fabric for the duvet and the striped green jacquard for the bed skirt. The duvet will have a ruffle around the bottom edge out of the rust colored silk, my client LOVES ruffles!

I am soooooo excited to get started sewing on this project. I will be sure to share lots of photos of the finished room.

Wow, the fabric is goreous and the drawings look amazing. These are grand projects to take on. I’ll be sure to check back to see how it all turns out.
Great looking plans and the fabrics and trim are beautifully coordinated.
Where did you get this theme from? It’s pretty clean and nice
I started with the floral print fabric and from there chose other fabrics by pulling colors out of the inspiration fabric. From the first fabric the rest just started to come together and I browsed through the fabric store.
