Hooked on fabric!

Today I am joining Julia at Hooked on Houses.  She is the lovely hostess of today’s event, Hooked on Fridays. The focus of this blog party is to share what really makes us smile. I am hooked on fabric!!

I am not normally big on shopping. I usually go to the mall or a store knowing exactly what I want, I go in, find it and I leave. With fabric though, it is totally a different story. I can spend countless hours wondering through a fabric store. Especially a store that sells luxurious fabrics like silk, velvet, taffeta and hand beaded or sequenced fabric.  I love to touch it. I love to admire the colors. I love to imagine what I could turn it into; sometimes it is a formal gown, rich looking draperies or a stunning pillow. The possibilities are endless!

There is a store called the Silk Trading Co. that I just adore! There is one located at the South Coast Plaza and I go there to get lost in a fantasy fabric world. The fabrics are incredibly plush. When I am there I forget about everything else and just get totally caught up in the beauty of the fabrics.

These pictures don’t do the fabrics justice. They can really only be fully appreciated if you can touch them. The beautiful colors are incredibly pleasing to the eye even if the sense of touch cannot be explored.

  • Beautiful, especially the first two. They look so rich and textural.

  • Gorgeous fabrics!

By the way, your link is wrong from Julia’s blog, but I just clicked on your header. That has got to be the only reason no one commented on your beautiful blog.

  • I looove… fabric. I get the giddy excited feeling when ever I walk into a great fabric store. I really enjoy putting all different kinds together for pillows or a quilt.

    Beautiful photos.
