Fancy vintage inspired lampshade
This Lampshade can be purchased on ETSY
My sister just recently came up with this adorable idea. When I saw the finished product my jaw dropped. I think it is so gorgeous and such a great idea. She took an old lampshade frame and decked it out in ribbon, tulle, vintage buttons and black and white photos. It can be hung from a hook in the ceiling and some chain or actually used on a lamp. Below are instructions on how to make your own:
SUPPLIES:
- An old lampshade.
- Gather up all sorts of vintage findings such as buttons, ribbon, lace, old photographs and costume jewelry.
- You will need a glue gun and glue sticks.

STEPS:
- Tear off the old fabric and strip the lampshade down to the metal frame.
- Start by randomly tying ribbon and tulle to the frame. Alternate knots and bows.
- Next use a hot glue gun to place buttons and flowers on the frame. Buttons can be used, as can vintage clip on earrings, to hold pictures in place.
The finished lampshade pictured at the top of the page has ribbon, tulle, vintage buttons and old photographs on it. You can add vintage lace, silk flowers and costume jewelry like the pictures show below. Get creative! All sorts of fun vintage findings can be used.

wow, that turned out beautiful!
That is terrific. It looks like something that I would see at a swanky B&B.
That’s beautiful! It really adds an element of style to an otherwise bland lampshade.
