Re-Upholstery

My grandma took many classes on re-upholstery and is very skilled at it. My mom is also experienced at tearing apart old furniture and making it look like new again. I, on the other hand, have until recently, never taken on the task. Let me tell you, it is incredibly hard work. I have some very good teachers though. Below are some pictures of a pair of chairs that my mom and I recently re-upholstered for a friend of ours.
This is what the chair looked like when it was brought to us. It was filthy dirty and tearing it apart was not fun.

These are pictures of the finished product. It was amazing to see it all come together. It got a lot worse before it got better. As we tore the chairs apart we found mold inside that needed to be bleached. The foam was deteriorating so we had to replace that. The springs were still good though. As the chair started to be put back together it eventually began to look like a chair again and that is the point when I got excited.

It was a really fun job. I can’t wait to get another re-upholstery job. I was really pleased with the way everything turned out and our friend that we did the work for was super excited.
